Fishtek contributes primarily to WP3: Multi-scale and Multi-Gear Innovative Technologies, where it develops and tests innovative solutions designed to reduce bycatch and minimise impacts on vulnerable marine species. Its expertise helps create practical technologies that can be adopted by fishers to support more sustainable fishing practices. Fishtek also contributes to WP1, WP7, and WP8, supporting project coordination, replication activities, and communication efforts.

Meet the Team

Harry Thatcher - Is a senior fisheries scientist at Fishtek Marine. His expertise lies in understanding the interactions between artificial structures in the marine environment and the fishing industry, with a particular focus on the movements of commercially important species around offshore wind farms. Harry has worked across a wide range of fisheries science projects, from marine protected area monitoring to fish tracking, developing a strong foundation in field-based data collection, applied ecological analysis, and practical deployment techniques. Harry engages with the fishing industry and commercial partners to plan and deliver a variety of at-sea surveys and sampling programmes. He oversees all aspects of this work, including the design, coordination, and execution of field operations, as well as the deployment and retrieval of monitoring devices.

Robert Enever - Is the Science & Conservation Strategy Director at Fishtek Marine and leads the science underpinning the efficacy of Fishtek Marine’s developing product range. He is a specialist in ETP bycatch reduction and works collaboratively with Fishermen/Scientists/NGOs and Governments around the world to help reduce the impacts of fishing on the marine environment. Robs background is as a Fisheries Scientist, having spent extensive time (10+ years) working at sea with commercial fishermen and as a Marine Evidence Specialist setting up and subsequently advising on Marine Protected Areas in England. He sits on the International Whaling Commission’s bycatch expert panel feeding in expertise from a gear technology perspective
