The European Centre for Information in Marine Science and Technology – EurOcean - is an independent, non-profit, scientific organization founded in 2002. It supports European Ocean Science and Technology advances, by fostering information exchange, interaction, and innovation among its members, the ocean community, and society. EurOcean leads WP8: Communication, Dissemination and Synergies, ensuring that SEA4FUTURE results, tools, and innovations reach the right audiences and generate lasting impact. This includes communicating project outcomes to stakeholders and the wider public, strengthening cooperation with related initiatives, and supporting knowledge exchange across sectors. WP8 also focuses on raising awareness of sustainable fisheries and responsible seafood consumption, while ensuring that scientific knowledge and decision-support tools are accessible to policymakers and practitioners. In addition to leading WP8, EurOcean contributes to WP1 and WP7, supporting coordination and the long-term uptake of project results.
Meet the Team
Sara Granchinho - PR and Communication Manager at EurOcean since April 2021. She has a degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries from the University of Algarve (Portugal) with a specialization in Marine Ecosystem Management. For several years she worked in Ocean Literacy, developing content and activities aimed at school audiences. For 14 years, she was responsible for Communication and Public Relations at Oceanário de Lisboa (10 years) and Oceano Azul Foundation (4 years). She collaborated with the Boto project, in the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve (Amazonas, Brazil) working mainly with telemetry data; she was a Fisheries Observer at NAFO during a five-month campaign. She participated in the Oceano Azul (Azores) expedition in 2018 with the Waitt Foundation and National Geographic Pristine Seas as communication and PR manager.

Sandra Sá - Is the Executive Director of EurOcean, leading the organisation’s mission to connect marine science, policy, and society across Europe. With a strong background in ocean governance and international cooperation, Sandra Sá has an extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary projects and fostering collaboration among research institutions, NGOs, and policymakers. Passionate about ocean literacy and citizen science, she is committed to making marine information more accessible and impactful for diverse communities.
