Ecologic Institute leads social science research focusing on the integration of fishers’ knowledge and expertise in new sustainable fisheries monitoring processes and implementing a stakeholder engagement strategy to foster social acceptance and support for the sustainable seafood products and practices promoted by the project. Ecologic also coordinates the development of actionable policy recommendations and building capacity for decision-makers, supporting the adoption of Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management (EBFM) within the EU and beyond.

Grit Martinez - Is a Senior Fellow at the Ecologic Institute and holds an adjunct research professorship in the Department of Anthropology in the College of Social Behavioral Research at the University of Maryland. With academic roots in the humanities and social sciences, her research focus lies on social processes leading to sustainable transformations in worldwide ecological systems. Dr. Martinez works and publishes on behavioral insights and people-centered solutions for climate change adaptation, resilience, and their enabling and restricting cultural, political, economic and technical contexts. She also focuses on challenges of interdisciplinary collaborations amongst the social sciences, humanities and natural, engineering and life sciences.

Gregory Fuchs - Is a marine scientist specialised in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem-based governance. His work concentrates on managing human impacts on marine and coastal environments, with an emphasis on nature-based solutions and ecosystem restoration to boost social-ecological resilience and ensure lasting sustainability.

Teresa Spantzel - Works as a Researcher in the fields of biodiversity and nature restoration at Ecologic Institute in Berlin. Her research focuses on the protection of biodiversity and the restoration of ecosystems, as well as the implementation and mainstreaming of nature-based solutions in urban areas.

Nico Stelljes - Is a Fellow at Ecologic Institute and coordinates its work in coastal and marine studies. His research interests include regional adaptation to climate change, integrated coastal zone management (ICZM), sustainability, transdisciplinarity, perceptions of climate change, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
