PhD Opportunity: Sustainable Mediterranean Fisheries (FishMed-PhD Programme)
Applications are now open for the 42nd cycle of the FishMed-PhD programme at the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna.

One of the available PhD scholarships focuses on resilience strategies for small-scale fisheries facing global change, with an emphasis on certification, eco-labelling, and digital tools to support more sustainable fisheries management.

This research aims to contribute to practical solutions that strengthen the adaptability of small-scale fisheries under environmental and socio-economic pressures, while supporting sustainability across the Mediterranean seafood sector.

Application deadline: 15 June 2026

The programme is part of the PhD in Innovative Technologies and Sustainable Use of Mediterranean Sea Fishery and Biological Resources (FishMed-PhD), offering a multidisciplinary research environment in marine science, fisheries management, and sustainability.
